His military decorations and awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal (3 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), the Navy Good Conduct Medal, and numerous unit and service awards.
He graduated with a Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice from Virginia Commonwealth University in May of 2013, a post-graduate certificate in Simulation and Modeling from the Naval Postgraduate School in August of 2013, and a post-graduate certificate of Introduction to Foundations in Health Professions Education from USUHS in May of 2021. In addition to being the first Hospital Corpsman to successfully challenge the Licensed Practical Nurse certification in North Carolina, Captain Parrott holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Carolina University, a Master of Science from Georgetown University, and an anesthesia certificate from the Navy Nurse Corps Anesthesia Program where he received both the Regional Student and Student Researcher of the year awards. His operational experiences include student nurse anesthetist, USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) Emergency Resuscitation and Stabilization Team, USS LaSalle (AGF 3) Emergency Resuscitation and Stabilization Team, USS O’Bannon (DD 987) and chief nurse anesthetist and safety officer, Expeditionary Medical Facility, Kuwait. His previous tours have included staff nurse and division officer (PACU), Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune staff nurse anesthetist and affiliate Navy Nurse Corps Anesthesia Program faculty, Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth chief nurse anesthetist, Naval Hospital, Naples, Italy staff nurse anesthetist and adjunct USUHS faculty, National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda chief nurse anesthetist and Head, Staff Education and Training Department, Sigonella, Italy assistant professor and the Program Director for the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences (USUHS) Nurse Anesthesia Program, Bethesda, Maryland Director, Capability Development, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Falls Church, Virginia and Executive Officer, Navy Medical Operational Training Command in Pensacola, Florida. Naval Reserve and received his commission as an Ensign in 1995. Upon leaving active duty at the end of Desert Storm, he affiliated with the U.S. During his enlistment, he cross-rated to Hospital Corpsman and reported for duty at Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune. Captain Parrott grew up as a military dependent overseas and began his Navy career as honor guard crew aboard the USS Constitution (IX 21, “Old Ironsides) in Boston, Massachusetts.
